31st May - Departed Broome and checkout Barn Hill a station stay. $15 per person per night, un-powered site. At least they had running water a reasonable toilets and showers if required.
We got lucky with a camp site over looking the beach heading north.
Just along the beach there are some neat rock formations the highlight of the station stay.
But did get a few feeds of fish, sand whiting, gar's, and grunter trevelly. No big fish though.
We meet some interesting folks, and Kevin our neighbour even knew where Songkhla was as he as his neighbour in Rockingham WA used to work there. It turned out to be Alan Thornton who passed away here several year ago. SMALL WOLRD!
Plus another couple with a Bushtracker on the road 7 years, Roy and Pam, they were interesting folks and excited as their son (Roy's) had just married a Thai lady.
Pete & Lynn another Bushtracker owner pulled in, we caught up with them again at Cape Keraudren.
Oh! the rock formations!
caterpillar train!
Next stop - Cape Kerdaudren a Marine Reserve. A reasonable fee of $7.5 per night, so stay a week, with a good camp site on the cliff near the boat ramp. No fresh water, but drop 'dunnies' Aussie slang for toilets.
As you can see the bay completely empties out at low tide!
This is about half tide, the 'Carrier' get completely covered at high tide
21' BT, with 100 series Land Cruiser . Pete & Lynn who we meet earlier at Barn Hill.
Once we got the eel untangled he went back, part of Firewood Creek behind Sue.
We fished the incoming tides and were catching heaps of Yellow Fin Bream but all under size 350mm. How ever the day before we departed, found out it was a mis-print on the fishing guide and should have been 250mm. We threw heaps back, we even asked another couple on the water what the fish was and size required, and they also thought it to be 350mm. Cat fish and a couple of Mangrove Jacks made up our fish diet here.
We did get a Blue Nose Salmon at Firewood Creek, great with Cajun Spice.
It was an enjoyable if not frustration week fishing wise. There was great excitement in the camp when any one caught a good trophy fish, which was very few. 10 campers in our section!
Next stop - Port Hedland - Family and Relative's
